Box Turtle
I rescued this beautiful box turtle from the middle of a highway in rural Virginia. I spent the next 10 minutes on my belly in a muddy ditch, watching him through my macro lens as logging trucks roared by.
This box turtle was asleep in a parking lot in the National Forest. I moved him to better spot under a tree.

Goose flying upside down over the Shenandoah River.
The goose on the right made a corkscrew in the air – whether for pure joy or some inscrutable goose reason, I don’t know.
