Just before I went on a hike at Fridley’s Gap, the screw fell out of my glasses. I couldn’t bear not to go … so I decided to experience the natural world in all my nearsighted glory.

I like this tree image a lot. On the way home from getting my first pair of glasses at age five, I saw the tops of tall evergreen trees (in Washington) for the first time. Up to that point, I thought they were so tall that no one could see their tops and that they just disappeared into the heavens. Startled, I told my mom how amazing it was to see the tops of the trees…she promptly burst into tears. Poor mom…she had no idea HOW nearsighted I was!
Love this pic.
Steve,
Great picture! I’ve been lurking on your site for years now- always enjoy your photography.
This picture reminds me of a thought I had for years- painting without my glasses on. Capturing the out of focus image. Unfortunately for the idea I had lasik a few years ago…. glad I did but there goes my idea.
Cheers!
Well, you have managed to make blur a beautiful thing Steve! My world is a lot like yours when I have my glasses off too.
